X SCIENTIFIC SYMPOSIA
The aim of the 10th Scientific Symposia of the Alicia Koplowitz Foundation is to present an Update on Evidence-Based Therapeutic Interventions for the different groups of Child and Adolescent Mental Disorders.
Scientific evidence supports that there are nowadays effective, scientifically proven treatments for the mental disorders of these developmental stages; and that these therapeutic interventions include not only medication treatments (psychotropic drugs), but also specific psychological interventions for each group of mental disorder: individual or family interventions, behavioural therapy, psychoeducation, parent groups, interpersonal therapy, etc. In some cases, it is the combination of both, pharmacological and psychological intervention, which has demonstrated scientific superiority.
The Foundation believes that children and adolescents suffering from mental disorders and their families have the right to be offered these therapeutic modalities in mental health services in Spain, given the tendency to preferentially use pharmacological treatment in children and adolescents. This is why we have proposed that the central theme of this 10th Scientific Symposia should be an update on the different scientifically based interventions for each mental disorder.
We hope that all the lectures and conferences will largely fulfil this objective and that they will be of benefit to you, both for your clinical practice and for your personal knowledge. Welcome.
