Dr. Málaga is the Head of the Pediatric Neurology Unit at Hospital Universitario Central de Asturias (HUCA). He obtained his medical degree at Oviedo University, where he also accomplished his doctorate degree (extraordinary prize). After completing his 4-year specialization in Pediatrics at HUCA, he completed a 2-year training in pediatric neurology at Hospital San Juan de Dios de Barcelona (fellowship program – Master’s degree title at Barcelona University). Since then, he has worked at HUCA. He combines his clinical practice with academic and research activities, being Associated Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Oviedo and Neuropediatrics at private Universities. Regarding research, he has participated in several research projects (public / private funding) and is the author / co-author of numerous scientific publications (H-index = 21). In addition, he is an independent evaluator of research projects for Spanish national agencies (ANEP, ISC-III) dependent on the Ministry of Science of the Government of Spain as well as reviewer of several scientific journals. He currently holds the position of Past-President of the Spanish Society of Pediatric Neurology (SENEP) and since 2022 he is member of the Board of the European Pediatric Neurology Society (EPNS).
