Four research grants of €50,000 for projects in child and adolescent psychiatry and one grant of €75,000 for a project in neuropharmacology were awarded to the following research teams:
– Team led by Dr. Lourdes Fañanás Saura, from the Anthropology Unit, Department of Animal Biology, Faculty of Biology, University of Barcelona, including Drs. Luisa Lázaro García, Maria Eulalia Navarro Hurtado and Mar Fatjo-Vilas Mestre, to carry out the research “Analysis of illness features and molecular variability in candidate genes as markers of clinical heterogeneity and outcome in early onset psychoses”.
– Team led by Dr. Rafaela Caballero Andaluz, Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine, University of Seville, including Drs. Carmen Osuna Fernández, Yolanda de Diego Otero, José Amat and Lucas Giner Jiménez, to conduct the research “Correlación Anatomo Metabólica y Genética de los Déficits Psicofuncionales Específicos y Diferenciales del Autismo y síndrome de Asperger”.
– Team led by Dr. Arantzazu Zabala Rabadán, from the Adolescent Unit, Department of Psychiatry, Hospital General Universitario Gregorio Marañón, including Drs. Igor Bombín González, Celso Arango López and Mª Dolores Galvez Gómez, to carry out the research “Implicación del gen catecol-O-metil transferasa (COMT) en psicosis: Asociación al funcionamiento cognitivo prefrontal y signos neurológicos menores en pacientes con psicosis”.
– Team led by Dr. Ángel Pazos Carro of the University of Cantabria, including Drs. Álvaro Díaz Martínez, Elsa Valdizan Ruíz and Mª Elena Castro Fernández, to carry out the project “Neuroplasticidad y fármacos antidepresivos: implicaciones para la hipótesis neurodegenerativa de la depresión”.
