Madrid, 11 December 2014. The Alicia Koplowitz Foundation has been awarded the “Social Prize 2014” by the Madrid Neurology Association (AMN). With this award the association recognises the Foundation’s endeavours to study and treat neurological disorders in the form of the Centro de Esclerosis Múltiple de la Comunidad de Madrid Alicia Koplowitz (Alicia Koplowitz Multiple Sclerosis Centre of the Region of Madrid). The AMN also considers the activities in training and research of psychiatric disorders in childhood and adolescence sponsored by the Alicia Koplowitz Foundation through its programme of fellowships and bursaries, as well as initiatives undertaken in the area of social action. The Alicia Koplowitz Multiple Sclerosis Centre of the Region of Madrid is the first centre in Spain specialising in the treatment of this disorder and has become an international benchmark. Designed, built and donated by the Alicia Koplowitz Foundation to meet the needs of patients, it is currently managed by the Department for Family and Social Affairs of the Region of Madrid.
