Ms. Alicia Koplowitz has received the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry’s (AACAP’s) highest honor, the 2024 Catchers in the Rye Humanitarian Award.
With this award, AACAP recognises individuals who have made a sustained and significant contribution to the dissemination of knowledge of child and adolescent mental illness, its prevention, early diagnosis and therapeutic tools to combat it, through activities such as advocacy for stigma removal and normalisation, education and training, research, entrepreneurship, philanthropy, and/or acts of courage and kindness. Past recipients include three senators, a governor, a Nobel laureate, a former Secretary of State, a former Surgeon General and other distinguished individuals who have made significant contributions to the well-being of children and adolescents.
The Award ceremony took place at the AACAP’s Annual Meeting in Seattle, WA during the Karl Menninger, MD, Plenary Session, on October 16, 2024. It was collected on her behalf by the Foundation’s former fellow, Dr. Andres Román Jarrin.
