2017 Call

The Research Grants in the Area of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry this year were awarded to:

- Team led by Dr Elena de la Serna Gómez of Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red (CIBER), Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, formed by the following investigators: Dr Josefina Castro Fornieles, Dr Miguel Bernardo Arroyo and Mr José Carlos Pariente Zorrilla. Project Title: “Características comunes y diferenciales en hijos de pacientes con esquizofrenia diagnosticados de TDAH, hijos de padres sanos diagnosticados de TDAH y controles.” (Common and differential characteristics in children of patients with schizophrenia diagnosed with ADHD, children of healthy parents diagnosed with ADHD and controls).

- Team led by Dr José Angel Alda Díez of Fundación Sant Joan de Déu, Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, Barcelona, formed by the following investigators: Dr Josefa Canals Sans, Dr Mónica Tous Márquez and Dr María Izquierdo Pulido. Project Title: “Caracterización del perfil metabólico (bacteriano y no bacteriano) en niños y adolescentes con TDAH y evaluación de su valor como marcador diagnóstico.” (Characterisation of the metabolic profile (bacterial and non-bacterial) in children and adolescents with ADHD and evaluation of its value as a diagnostic marker).

- Team led by Dr David Fraguas of Hospital General Universitario Gregorio Marañón, Madrid, formed by the following investigators: Dr Elisa Rodríguez Toscano, Ms Pamela Rodríguez Latorre and Dr Gonzalo López Montoya. Project Title: “Prevención de envejecimiento celular en adolescentes con primer episodios psicótico tratados con N-acetil Cisteina.” (Prevention of cell ageing in adolescents with first pschotic episodes treated with N-acetylcysteine).

The Research Projects in Child and Adolescent Neurosciences awarded grants in 2017 were:

- Team led by Dr Pablo Mir Rivera of Instituto de Biomedicina, Hospital Universitario Virgen del Rocío, Seville, formed by the following investigators: Dr Juan Francisco Martín Rodríguez, Dr Marcos Madruga Garrido and Dr Miguel Ruíz Veguilla. Project title: “Identificación de nuevos mecanismos neurales del control del tic en el Síndrome de Tourette” (Identification of new neural mechanisms of tic control in Tourette's Syndrome).

- Team led by Dr José Javier Lucas Lozano of Centro de Biología Molecular “Severo Ochoa”. CSIC/FSO, Madrid, formed by the following investigators: Dr Ainara Elorza Peregrina, Dr María Santos Galindo and Ms Sara Picó del Pino. Project title: “Poliadenilación por CPEB4 de genes causantes de trastornos del espectro autista en el modelo de activación inmune materna.” (CPEB4 polyadenylation of genes causing autistic spectrum disorders in the model of maternal immune activation)

- Team led by Dr Alfredo Giménez-Cassina Sendón of Centro de Biología Molecular “Severo Ochoa”. UAM-CSIC. Autonomous University of Madrid, formed by the following investigators: Dr Javier Díaz Nido and Dr Sara Pérez-Luz. Project title: “Rescate de la función mitocondrial en neuronas humanas derivadas de pacientes con Ataxia de Friedreich.” (Rescue of mitochondrial function in human neurones derived from patients with Friedreich's Ataxia.

The Research Project in Neuropaediatrics awarded a Research Grant in 2017 was:

- Team led by Dr María José López Espinosa of Fundación para el Fomento de la Investigación Sanitaria y Biomédica de la Comunidad Valenciana, FISABIO-Salud Pública de Valencia, formed by the following investigators: Dr Carmen Iñiguez Hernández, Dr Nerea Lertxundi Iribar and Dr Maria Pilar Francino Puget. Project Title: “Relación entre la exposición prenatal a disruptores endocrinos, microbiota placentaria y neurodesarrollo infantil y del adolescente. El Proyecto INMA.” (Relationship between prenatal exposure to endocrine disruptors, placental microbiota and child and adolescent neurodevelopment). The INMa Project).
